Celebrate the small things - already?

I can't believe it's Friday again already. The week has gone by so fast, probably because I've had my head down working hard. Celebrate the Small Things with VikLit here.
Typical A14 traffic
Nothing specific to celebrate this week, other than having survived. There have been a couple of horrible crashes on the A14 today, a road I use quite regularly, and my heart goes out to all those people who have been involved. This is the road that connects the M1 to the A1, so it is heavily used by lorries going to and from the east coast ports. There's talk of widening it to three lanes in places and while I'm sad that this means we shall lose more fields, I think it will improve the safety. Time will tell.

Well, that was cheerful! Must try harder next Friday.

  3. I have a friend who had a very elderly mare that she would go hacking on. The mare was a sprightly breed (a Morgan, if that means anything across the pond) and liked a good gallop. So they galloped, the mare put a foot wrong, and over she went. My friend had jumped free as the old girl went down, and stood there looking down at this lovely pet of a mare she had had for upwards of thirty years. (Bear with me)

She was all but crying at the thought of the old girl being injured badly, and being put down to be free of her pain, and the empty feeling of her box stall...

Then the mare's nostrils snuffled; she twitched an ear. Her tail flipped up and down, a hoof was flexed. She raised her head, cast an eye down her flank, grunted, got her hind legs under her and pushed to her feet. She tossed her mane, snorted again, and looked at my friend as though to say, "Well? I'm fine - what's wrong with YOU?"

So, like the mare, you are fine! That's something to celebrate!

  4. On the bright side, hopefully, having your head down might mean that you got lots done!

  5. Yes time does fly by, and this weekend is dwindling down too! :(

Unfortunately there's no perfect resolution to any plan of action, but hopefully they'll take action to change so many action. Glad you haven't been hurt.
