Time to celebrate

Has there ever been a better week to celebrate the small things? So much of what is going on in the world at the moment is just too big. I don't understand it and I certainly can't do anything about it. Therefore I'm going to focus on improving things in my corner. Perhaps if we all do that, the little patches of goodness will join up.

So today, in very general terms and in no particular order , I'm celebrating family and friends, music and books, having a home with central heating and enough to eat, health and relative wealth, and just leading an ordinary, uneventful life.

Celebrate the Small Things  is a blog hop. Visit Lexa's Blog for the rules, and then post every Friday about something you're grateful  for that week. Originated by VikLit) and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner @ Writing Off The Edge and Tonja Drecker @ Kidbits Blog.

  1. Very well said. I think that's the biggest thing I took away from the French tragedy. I hadn't appreciated their zest and their pride in their way of life. "We stand," as the poor man who lost his wife said. To appreciate what you have and enjoy it in the face of horrible actions means the French win, and we can all take a lesson there.

  2. It's always good to have some perspective; we're often so guilty of taking the small things for granted. Have a great weekend :)

  3. Well said, Julia... it's important to remember the good things as well. I had all three grandchildren here yesterday and that was cause to celebrate.

  4. Excellent idea - at least we can enjoy such small celebrations whenever they arise.

  6. Great post, and to be warm and have food and family, not in that order, makes things like needing a new stair carpet seem trivial. I always feel lucky to be able to see and have health to be able to get about as well. The news is awful these days.
