Where did the week go?

Can it really be time to Celebrate the Small Things again? I had such plans for this week and haven't achieved as much as I was hoping to. I blame the weather; I don't like this dreary stuff.

To business:
Went to the Royal Theatre in Northampton on Monday to see The Woman in Black. I've seen the film, but this was quite different. I've had to put the book on my Christmas list, so that I can compare and contrast.

I've managed to write and submit an article in which an editor had expressed an interest. It was one of those jobs where I spent far too much time researching because it was just so damn fascinating. Don't you just love the internet?

I'm playing with my ukulele group tonight at a fundraiser in a village nearby. We're promised refreshments!

Product DetailsFollowing on from Stuart Maconie last weekend (another signed book for the collection), I'm sticking with the radio presenter theme tomorrow as I'm going to see Mitch Benn, which I'm really looking forward to. I've just read his novel Terra, which is lovely.

Have a great weekend, folks.

'Celebrate the small things' is a bloghop instigated by VikLit on her blog Scribblings of an Aspiring Author and co-hosted by Diana Wilder, LG Keltner @ Writing Off the Edge, Cyborg Mom (Katie) and CaffeMaggieato @ mscoffeehouse. Details are here

    1. I'm in denial about Christmas. I keep telling myself it's ages away.

  2. Oh, I would love to see The Woman in Black performed! The book is MUCH better than the movie, hope you get the chance to read and enjoy it!

    1. It was really creepy - marred only slightly be the woman behind me who laughed every time there was a scary bit.

  4. Sounds like a great week! I love trips to the theater. The internet has absorbed me for hours on end when I'm researching certain topics. I think it happens to us all. Have a great weekend!

    1. We are so lucky to have a nationally respected theatre in Northampton, and our local, smaller theatres are pretty good, too, even the am-dram productions. In another life I would have been a patron.

  5. Hi Julia. Stopping by late - I know - but had to see what you've been up to, and are celebrating. I'd be satisfied seeing The Royal Theatre in Northampton even if it were empty!! What an interesting place. I love plays and it's been too long.

Congratulations on the article. Yes, I do love internet and research is my middle name. Ukulele player? That's really interesting - have fun!!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog home. :))

    1. The Royal is a wonderful venue: a traditional theatre with plush seats and an ornate fire curtain. It is linked to the Derngate: a modern auditorium with flexible seating and an energetic vibe.

    1. It's such brilliant fun. We rehearse once a fortnight, pick a song, play it, get it wrong, laugh, play it again. Pick another song, play it... and so on. Our 'performances' are very informal, and we always get the audience to sing along, which covers a multitude of musical sins.

  7. I like doing research but it takes up so much time because I get caught up in it all. And yes, the internet is great because now we can research from the comfort of home! Have a good weekend.

    1. I remember the days of covering the table with books and journals, sticky notes and bits of paper.

  8. I often wonder where the week has gone - and I do agree about the time research can take, although I tend to do it on a need to know basis!

  9. That's the problem with writing articles - it's so easy to get carried away!

    1. Wendy and Rosemary, I usually put a timer on to make sure I don't let the research run away with me, but I forgot on this occasion.
