Modest celebrations

There is nothing in particular to celebrate today. Nevertheless, I feel as though I have had a good week. It's been the usual mix of yoga and words, work and socialising.

I spent Sunday afternoon with my mum, where we sat for several hours putting the world to rights. I don't know where she gets her energy! On Monday, my back made a peculiar clunking sound as I was working with a particularly glorious spinal rotation, so I popped along to see Brian, my osteopath. He was able to reassure me that I just needed realigning - a task he was happy to perform. He also released my piriformis while he was at it. I hadn't realised it was tight, but my goodness: I could tell he'd done something. I'm now skipping about like a two-year-old.  On Wednesday, I had a multi-chai meeting with my writing buddy Elaine, which was great fun as always. One day we will get around to acting on all the literary plans we make.

And that's about it. Just time to tell you that tomorrow morning I'm off to my first hot yoga session in the appropriately named village of Scaldwell.

Celebrate the Small Things  is a blog hop. Visit Lexa's Blog for the rules, and then post every Friday about something you're grateful  for that week. Originated by VikLit) and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner @ Writing Off The Edge and Tonja Drecker @ Kidbits Blog.

  1. Your osteopath sounds a treasure, Julia! Now what on earth is hot yoga?

  2. I thought you meant "put the world to rights" in a different way. My friend and I are always discussing world events and are sure we are the only ones who see the "truth" and could put things right. But I see you and your mother are far more practical! Yay for the re-alignment and skipping around like a kid! Have a lovely weekend. :)

  3. The name of the village made me laugh. Appropriate indeed. I hope you enjoy the yoga and it leaves you feeling peaceful and relaxed. Take care!

  4. Reading about that clunking sound made me cringe. I'm glad you were able to get your back straightened out. Sounds like it's better than new! I don't know what hot yoga is, but have fun with it! :)

  5. Glad all that clunking and clicking worked its magic. Nothing like getting your piriformis sorted! Am I right in thinking that hot yoga is done in a heated room?

    1. Maggie, you keep leaving lovely comments. Do you have a blog of your own? I don't seem to be able to get to it.

    3. Thanks, Maggie: but Firefox wouldn't let me connect. It says you are a security risk, which I can't believe! The gremlins are fighting back. Any ideas?

  6. Thanks for your comments, Rosemary, Lexa, Julie, Lori and Maggie. Yes, hot yoga is indeed yoga in a heated room. The most well-known version is, perhaps, Bikram, which I wouldn't do for all sorts of reasons. The version I did was much nicer: in a village hall heated to about 25C, which is plenty warm enough when you're doing energetic sequences! It was fabulous and really energising. Recommended.
